on a rotating basis in the Underscored
Gallery. Nominations are always welcome.

From the
conception of BetaSpace, the need for an ‘Underscored’, or ‘featured
artist’ gallery was clear. There was a lot of great
work produced for the Internet already out there independent
of BetaSpace. Underscored was viewed as an opportunity to
pay homage to wonderful efforts by notable individuals practicing
and furthering the field of new media art.
The final decision process as to who gets exhibited in the
Underscored
Gallery is left up to the individual curator(s).
It is part of the BetaSpace philosophy to encourage those
organizing exhibits for Underscored to pay particular attention
to the popular sentiment in both the BetaSpace community
and the new media community at large. As the communal sense
of BetaSpace grew over the course of development, the need
for a venue of featured artists became even more apparent.
Since a community revolves both in a more immediate and latent
sense around model citizens, the need for this gallery thus
became strengthened.
